Burning of the Roof!

On March 23rd, 2015, Mike Abel, the builder of the structures at the monastery, and the previous owner, came to show us how to burn the sod roof of the round Trapeza building. When the inspector of the structure saw the sod roof, he wrote that if it was maintained, it would last as long as the structure. To keep trees from growing and to beautify the appearance, Mike had burned it every year around St. Patrick's Day! Here are a couple of photos.
