The Feast of St. Lazar of Kosovo, and the noble sacrificial battle on St. Vitus Day, is one of the most sublime events in Serbian Orthodox History. Greatly outnumbered by the Ottoman Turks, the Christian Knights of Serbia confessed their sins and received Holy Communion, following their leader Prince Lazar, as they prepared to defend the rest of Europe. Inspired by our Lord's Words in the Gospel of John, "Greater love has no man than this than to lay down one's life for his friends," they knew that likely they would give their lives in this struggle. St. Nikolai Velimirovich spoke of this ennobling example before the Archbishop of Canterbury and the United Kingdom during World War I. Click here.
To remember St. Lazar, and ask for his intercessions for all who stand for Faith and Truth, we will be serving the Divine LIturgy this Saturday morning at 9:00 am.
