Christ is Baptized! God is Revealed!

In the waters of the Jordan! Truly He is Revealed!

In keeping with the ancient Church, we celebrate the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ during the Feast of Theophany. The word 'theophany' means the "manifestation of God." We especially think of the events that reveal to the us the Holy Trinity: God is One in Three, and Three in One, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In the Jordan, the Divine-Human Son was getting baptized, while the Voice of the Father bore witness to His Identity, and the Appearance of the Holy Spirit, as a Dove, confirmed from above this as very Truth.

We celebrate this Holy Feast over the next two days, January 18-19, 2023. Here is the schedule:

Wednesday, January 18, 2023 Eve of Theophany

8:00 am The Royal Hours followed by the Vesperal Liturgy of St. Basil the Great.

4:30 pm Vigil for Theophany

Thursday, January 19, 2023, Feast of Theophany

9:30 Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom

Followed by the Blessing of the Waters at our "Lake Ladoga"

Sunday, January 22, 2023 2:00 pm

Pan-Orthodox Blessing of the Waters at Kaw Point in Kansas City, Missouri

In the early 1900s over 1500 Serbian men gathered at this point to bless the waters during this festal time. Kaw Point is where the Kansas and Missouri Rivers merge. Here Lewis and Clark also had one of their stopoff points in their journey of discovery. All are welcome for any of these services.
